MBF Child Safety Matters®

Through a strategic partnership with the Monique Burr Foundation, Bivona Child Advocacy Center utilizes the MBF’s Safety Matters® Lessons in schools in the Greater Rochester region to provide vital personal safety to staff and students.

MBF curriculums are comprehensive, evidence-based prevention education programs for students in grades K-12. Through the use of 5 universal safety rules and strategies following recommendations of poly-victimization research, the programs teach students and adults how to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to the four types of child abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect), bullying, cyberbullying, and digital dangers. Each uses active learning strategies and reinforcement materials  and are age and developmentally appropriate.

The MBF programs help schools meet the NYS Erin’s Law mandate metrics as well as required bullying and online safety prevention requirements. For more information about Erin’s Law in NYS please click here. All three programs are offered in Monroe county via either direct instruction or Train the Trainer, in partnership with BOCES-2 CoSer agreements.

For more information about these affordable options, please contact Bivona’s Manager of Community Education, Stefanie Szwejbka.
