Our Social Story

Research shows that children with intellectual and developmental disabilities are 3-6x more likely to be abused. When a child comes to Bivona for this first time, our incredible staff makes every effort to ensure that children feel safe and supported. For children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, something a little more is needed to ensure that they feel safe and understand what Bivona Child Advocacy Center is. Through the financial support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the professional expertise and guidance from staff at Heritage Christian Services, our staff has created a social story which depicts the path a child might take during their visit to Bivona.

Thank you to Erin Hogan and Ruth Haidvogel, speech language pathologists from Heritage Christian Services, and Bivona's staff for their help in creating our Social Story.
