Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator

Overview & Summary

The MDT Coordinator is responsible for coordinating child advocacy services with partner agencies and ensuring those services are of the highest quality, utilizing standards set forth by the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) and NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). . This involves maintaining ongoing relationships with all partner agency members and service providers, while assessing professional training needs in an effort to promote a competent, cohesive multidisciplinary team (MDT). The MDT Coordinator is also responsible for oversight of the Bivona Program Department’s initiatives and monitoring their effectiveness, specifically with forensic interviewing, family advocacy and intake coordination. 

Individual subscribes to and promotes Bivona’s mission, vision and values. Functions as an active team member to achieve agency and department goals. 

Position is full time, exempt. This person will directly supervise a staff of five and reports to the Associate Executive Director. 

Duties & Responsibilities

In accordance with NCA and OCFS accreditation standards, perform the following responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate child advocacy services with participating agencies, including CPS, law enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, medical, victim advocacy and mental health. 

  • Lead MDT case review process. 

  • Coordinate and manage the forensic interview peer review process and the responsibilities therein. 

  • Act as liaison among all partner agencies and outside community agencies as needed, promoting strong effective working relationships. 

  • Provide oversight and supervision to the Program Department, including forensic interviewing, intake coordination and victim advocacy. 

  • Respond to community and professional inquiries for information and referrals regarding child (sexual) abuse and resources. 

  • Provide direct services to clients as needed. 

  • Assist with the facilitation of documentation and data collection of cases in the NCATrak system, in coordination with the Data Specialist. 

  • Gather data for monthly/quarterly grant reporting, ensuring reports are submitted in a timely manner. 

  • Provide representation at ADCOM. 

  • In collaboration with the MDT, assess training needs of team members; may be responsible for coordinating and/or conducting trainings. 

  • Develop resource materials, referral manuals, assist with special projects etc. 

  • Provide education and community awareness of Bivona through community presentations, training, tours, etc. as needed. 

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in meeting competencies required for position; able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

Master’s Degree in Social Work or Human Services field, plus five years’ experience preferred; or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (or related field) with seven to ten years’ experience required. Fluency in Spanish preferred. 

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of child abuse; child protective and law enforcement investigation procedures; and the legal reporting mandates for professionals. 

  • Strong organizational and communication skills. Public speaking experience preferred. 

  • Experience managing people with diverse backgrounds. 

  • Outstanding ability to work cooperatively with service providers and partner agencies. 

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft® Office and database software.
