The abduction of Elizabeth Smart was one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time. Elizabeth was abducted on June 5, 2002, and She was kept in the woods and subjected to daily rape, while her captors controlled her by threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. Fortunately, the police safely returned Elizabeth to her family on March 12, 2003. As a result of this traumatic experience, Elizabeth has become an avid campaigner for sexual abuse victims, an outspoken advocate for child causes, recovery programs, and changes in national legislation. Elizabeth’s trauma and recovery continue to motivate parents, law enforcement and leaders worldwide to focus on child safety. She emphasizes vigilance by everyday people and is living proof that hope exists to find every missing child. We can't wait to hear Elizabeth speak— and we hope you'll join us!
