Breaking the Silence on Child Abuse Protection, Prevention, Intervention, and Deterrence

HEARING DATE: December 13, 2011

In recent months the issue of child sexual abuse has been prevalent in both national and local news. The December 13, 2011 Senate Subcommittee on Children and Families hearing, “Breaking the Silence on Child Abuse Protection, Prevention, Intervention, and Deterrence,” brought together a panel of respected leaders in the child advocacy community to discuss relevant issues surrounding child sexual abuse.

Bivona Earns Re-accreditation from National Children's Alliance

National Children’s Alliance recognizes Bivona Child Advocacy Center as one of the country’s premiere organizations.

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK; December 7, 2011

Bivona Child Advocacy Center has been awarded re-accreditation by National Children’s Alliance following an extensive application and site review process. As the accrediting agency for children advocacy centers (CAC) across the country, National Children’s Alliance awards various levels of accreditation and membership to centers responding to allegations of child abuse in ways that are effective and efficient, and put the needs of child victims of abuse first. Accreditation is the highest level of membership with National Children’s Alliance and denotes excellence in service provision.

Bivona Child Advocacy Center celebrates 7 years of child abuse intervention

Agency has become a valuable community resource and has evaluated nearly 7,000 children.

Bivona to host third annual "Bivona Summit on Child Abuse"

Expanded Two-Day Format Will Provide 300 Professionals with Education & Resources about Child Abuse

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK- April 25, 2011

In conjunction with Child Abuse Prevention Month, Bivona Child Advocacy Center will host its third annual Bivona Summit on Child Abuse, Thursday and Friday, April 28-29, 2011, at the Rochester Plaza Hotel and Conference Center. The Bivona Summit, a multidisciplinary training conference for professionals who work with children, was created by Bivona Child Advocacy Center in recognition of the pressing need to build awareness and education about child abuse. Due to the extraordinary feedback and support received from the 700 total attendees in its first two years, the Bivona Summit on Child Abuse has been expanded to a two-day conference.

The award was presented to Palmer at Bivona’s signature fund-raiser, Open That Bottle Night, which was held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Locust Hill Country Club. Bivona Child Advocacy Center’s Champion for Children Award is given annually to an exceptional individual whose community support and volunteer activities demonstrate selfless dedication to the organization.

Whittier’s leadership skills, vision and energy led to her nomination which highlights her dedication to Bivona Child Advocacy Center and its mission to provide children who have been affected by abuse. Because of Whittier’s leadership and drive, every child in Greater Rochester that has been sexually or physically abused has access to Bivona’s comprehensive services and resources.
