Before Bivona existed, the system was doing more to harm, not help, child abuse victims. Children had to repeat their traumatic stories of abuse over and over again in emergency rooms and police stations, and families were falling through the cracks of bureaucracy.
Our streamlined approach partners Child Protective Services, social workers, law enforcement, prosecutors, medical professionals, therapists, advocates, and volunteers under one roof, and preserves the best evidence for investigators. Whenever possible, children tell their story once to a highly trained forensic interviewer, get one medical exam, meet with a therapist and connect to a victim advocate. Team members work together to provide the child and family the support services they need—all the way through trial and beyond.
