Bivona Announces Facility Expansion

New Offices Will Provide Additional Resources for Children Affected by Abuse

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK - December 16, 2008

The Bivona Child Advocacy Center (BCAC) today announced the expansion of its facility, adding over 500 additional square feet of office space. An existing room in the center is being renovated and will now have two additional offices and four workstations. The modifications are necessary to enhance the current relationships the BCAC has with its partner organizations, and to add space for future partnerships.

The expansion will provide additional office space for the center’s Program Manager as well as a NYS Police Investigator, staff from Child Protective Services and the REACH Medical Program who are co-located at the BCAC.

The objective at BCAC is to provide comprehensive services to physically and sexually abused children at a single and safe, child-friendly facility. The BCAC evaluates over 1,000 children annually.

“Much of what we hear about today in the news is the organizations that are downsizing or closing their doors. But here we’re experiencing just the opposite as the community continues to look to Bivona as an asset. The additional office space is crucial for the BCAC to provide the positive resources offered for children and families affected by abuse,“ said Mary E. Whittier, Executive Director of the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
