Golf tournament to benefit local child abuse victims
Bivona Child Advocacy Center will host its 9th Annual Golf Tournament at Midvale Country Club on Monday, June 27.
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK- June 9, 2011
Bivona Child Advocacy Center will host its 9th Annual Golf Tournament at Midvale Country Club on Monday, June 27. Bivona’s signature ‘Bald-Headed Boys’ will again make an appearance to help raise funds for the abused children Bivona serves. Prior to the tournament, businesses are given the opportunity to sponsor a volunteer’s shaved (or naturally bald) head to advertise their logo for the day on the golf course. This year nearly 10 volunteers will don promotional logos on their heads, including several brave men who will have their hair shaved at the tournament.

With the addition of a morning flight, last year’s tournament attracted a record number of golfers, 176 in all. The golfers, along with more than 30 volunteers, helped raise $50,000 for Bivona Child Advocacy Center. With a similar number of golfers expected this year, organizers hope to raise $50,000 for local child abuse victims.
As one of Bivona’s three fundraisers, money raised at the tournament provides critical funding to allow comprehensive services to children who have been sexually or physically abused. Children can come to Bivona to receive a forensic interview, undergo a medical evaluation from a specially trained physician, meet with a victim advocate, talk to a therapist and more. All of this is done in a warm, welcoming environment created with the child’s best interest in mind. Since opening August 1, 2004, Bivona Child Advocacy Center has evaluated more than 6,500 children.
Golfers are treated to an experience they will soon not forget, complete with a hot breakfast, a hearty lunch, snacks and drinks on the course – including gourmet pizzas from Guida’s Pizzeria, root beer floats, penny candy station and more – as well as a delicious sit-down dinner, prizes and awards.
Registration for the morning flight begins at 7:00 a.m., with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (GHIN handicaps are required for morning golfers.) Registration for the afternoon flight begins at 11 a.m., with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. All golfers are invited to lunch at 11 a.m., as well as a dinner and awards ceremony, following completion of the afternoon flight (approximately 6:30 p.m.).
With room for only a few more foursomes, interested golfers can sign up online at http://bivonacac.org/ways-to-help/golf-tournament or contact Donna Lipari, Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator, at (585) 935-7801. The promotional flyer can be found here.
A large portion of the funds raised at the tournament come from sponsorships, including returning Ace Sponsors PF Air and RBC Wealth Management. Senator Joe Robach remains the tournament’s Honorary Chair. Several levels of sponsorships are still available.
